Corrupted Excel Shortcut

There are several potential methods you can try to fix a corrupted shortcut to Excel. Please try the steps below:

Check if the target file still exists

If the target file has been moved or deleted, the shortcut will become corrupted. In this case, you can try to recreate the shortcut by pointing it to the correct location of the target file.

Repair or reinstall Office 365

If the Excel program itself is indicating that it is corrupted, repairing or reinstalling it may fix the issue with the shortcut. You can follow these steps:

  1. Open the Control Panel on your computer. You can do this by searching for "Control Panel" in the Start menu on Windows 10, or by going to the Start menu and selecting "Control Panel" on earlier versions of Windows.

  2. In the Control Panel, click on "Programs" or "Programs and Features" (depending on your version of Windows).

  3. Find the Microsoft Office program that you want to repair in the list of installed programs, and click on it to select it.

  4. Click the "Change" button. This will open the "Microsoft Office Setup" window.

  5. In the "Microsoft Office Setup" window, click the "Repair" button.

  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the repair process. This may take a few minutes to complete.

  7. Once the repair process is finished, click "Close" to exit the "Microsoft Office Setup" window.

Reset the shortcut

You can try resetting the shortcut by right-clicking on it and selecting "Properties", then clicking on the "Shortcut" tab and clicking the "Reset" button.

Create a new shortcut

If none of the above methods work, you can try creating a new shortcut to Excel by right-clicking on the Excel program and selecting "Send to" > "Desktop (create shortcut)".
